Frequently Asked Questions
Planning a small-group Australian outback tour or an international adventure? Here are answers to some of the questions travellers ask us most often.
Q
What makes Outback Beds Tours different from other small-group tours?
A
Outback Beds Tours creates handcrafted, experience-based journeys for ultra-small groups. Our tours combine regional landscapes, local people, cultural heritage, wildlife, good food, short walks and distinctive accommodation. Australian tours carry no more than six guests, creating a friendly, immersive and flexible way to travel.
Q
Where do Outback Beds Tours travel in Australia and overseas?
A
Our Australian tours explore the Darling, Murrumbidgee and Murray rivers, Outback South Australia, the Flinders Ranges, Great Ocean Road, Coonawarra, Kangaroo Island, South Australia’s coastal peninsulas, the Nullarbor and Western Australia’s south-west coast. We also operate selected small-group tours to Italy, Morocco and Japan.
Q
How many guests travel on an Outback Beds Tour?
A
Australian tours usually have between four and six guests. Italy and Morocco tours generally have between nine and fourteen guests, while Japan tours vary according to the itinerary and activity but have no more than ten participants. Small group sizes allow for a more personal and flexible experience.
Q
What is included in the price of an Outback Beds Tour?
A
Most tours are fully inclusive. Depending on the published itinerary, the tour price generally includes accommodation, transport during the tour, scheduled entrance fees, guides, tips, airport transfers where listed and most meals. Travel to and from the tour, drinks and personal expenses are generally not included.
Q
Can Outback Beds Tours create a private or customised itinerary?
A
Yes. We can arrange private and customised tours for families, friends, clubs, community groups and organisations. Your itinerary may follow one of our existing Australian tours or be developed around particular destinations, interests and activities. Private hiking and cycling tours in Japan may also be arranged.
Q
How fit do I need to be for an Outback Beds Tour?
A
Most tours require reasonable mobility rather than advanced fitness. Guests should generally be able to walk at least three kilometres, climb three flights of stairs without assistance and carry their own luggage. Short walks are included in many itineraries, but guests can usually opt out of individual activities.
